Welcome to the 3CC Global Crypto Fund August 2026 Report, available for download below.
Hi all,
August was an exceptionally strong month for digital assets. Bitcoin briefly traded above $81,000 as the debasement trade returned to the forefront, supported by concerns over fiscal deficits and long-term currency purchasing power. More importantly, the rally broadened beyond Bitcoin, with Ethereum and Solana participating strongly and institutional flows accelerating. Against this backdrop, the Fund delivered +24.76%, its strongest monthly performance of 2026.
August Highlights:
- Performance: Fund +24.76%, with positive contributions across all major holdings.
- Bitcoin: Main contributor (+20.49 p.p.), gaining approximately +24% in EUR and briefly trading above $81k.
- Ethereum & Altcoins: Ethereum added +3.79 p.p. (+32%), while Solana +39 bps, AAVE +17 bps and Uniswap +9 bps.
- Institutional Flows: Digital asset products attracted $5.6B, the strongest month of 2026, including $3.4B into Bitcoin and $1.6B into Ethereum.
- Portfolio Activity: As Bitcoin approached $80k after a very rapid rally, we selectively realised gains and increased cash, preserving flexibility for better entry points.
- Macro: Despite the crypto rally, monetary conditions remain restrictive, with the 10-year Treasury yield testing 4.76% and Fed rhetoric remaining hawkish.
The most encouraging feature of August was not simply Bitcoin's rally, but the broadening participation across the digital asset ecosystem. Institutional flows strengthened materially while Ethereum and Solana fundamentals remain robust. We remain constructive on the medium-term outlook, while recognising that the speed of the recent move and continued uncertainty around monetary policy justify a more selective approach in the short term.
Best regards,
Nuno Serafim
